Training Program

The establishment or enhancement of training programs on healthcare waste management is the fourth major project objective in Senegal. This key component of national project activities is being undertaken in order to build capacity for the implementation of best waste management practices and technologies both within and beyond the model facilities and programs that are associated with this demonstration project.

A successful nation-wide healthcare training program coordinated by the Ministry of Health called PRONALIN, funded by the Nordic fund, began in 2005 and will continue through 2010. Senegal’s National Project Steering Committee will collaborate with this training program to enhance it with lessons learned from the project and to assure its sustainability beyond project completion.
